Welcome to TackleIQ ("we," "us," "our," or "Company"). We are committed to protecting your privacy and ensuring you have a positive experience using our app and website.

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. It applies to the TackleIQ mobile application (the "App") and our website at https://tackleiq.ai.

If you do not agree with this policy, please do not use our App or website.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

• Email address
• Display name
• Profile information you choose to provide

2.2 Content You Upload

• Tackle & Lure Photos: Images you upload for AI cataloging and recommendations
• Catch Photos: Photos you log with your catches

2.3 Location Data

• GPS coordinates of fishing locations (for catch logging, identifying the body of water you are fishing, and localized recommendations)
• Location is only collected when you actively log a catch or request conditions

2.4 Environmental & Weather Data

• Weather conditions (temperature, wind, precipitation)
• Water conditions retrieved via the OpenWeatherMap API based on your location

2.5 Usage & Device Data

• App features used and frequency
• Device type and operating system version
• App version and crash reports
• Device push notification tokens (if you enable push or bite alerts)

2.6 Payment Information

• In-app purchases are processed by RevenueCat via Apple's payment system
• We do not store your credit card number or full payment details

3. What We Don't Do With Your Data

• We do not sell your data to advertisers, data brokers, or any third parties
• We do not share your data for targeted advertising
• We do not collect data from children under 13 (see Section 7)
• We do not track your browsing history or cross-app activity

4. How We Use Your Information

4.1 Core App Functionality

• Provide AI-powered tackle recommendations based on your gear and conditions
• Log and store your catch history with GPS, photos, weather, and gear data
• Enable community features. When you choose to share a catch with the community, the details you include — which may contain photos and the catch location — are visible to other TackleIQ users. Catches you do not share remain private to your account.

4.2 Photo Storage & AI Analysis

• Photos you upload are stored in your account on our servers to build your tackle inventory and catch history, and are retained as described in Section 8
• When you scan a lure or request recommendations, a copy of the relevant photo is sent to Anthropic's API solely to generate identifications and recommendations; we use it for no other purpose

4.3 Communications

• Send app updates and feature announcements (you can opt out at any time)
• Respond to support inquiries
• Comply with legal obligations

4.4 Service Improvement

• Analyze app performance, fix bugs, and develop new features

4.5 Affiliate Links

The App may display links to third-party retailers for lures and fishing gear. If you make a purchase through these links, we may earn a commission. These links may contain referral identifiers, but we do not share your personal information with retailers.

5. Third-Party Services

TackleIQ uses the following third-party services to operate:

5.1 Supabase

• Purpose: Database and user authentication
• Data stored: Account info, catch logs, community content, tackle and catch photos
• Data location: United States

5.2 Anthropic API

• Purpose: AI-powered tackle recommendations
• Data sent: Tackle and catch photos, and related context needed to generate recommendations
• Note: Anthropic does not use data sent through its API to train its models. For Anthropic's data retention practices, see their privacy policy.

5.3 OpenWeatherMap

• Purpose: Weather and water condition data
• Data sent: GPS location coordinates

5.4 Google Places API

• Purpose: Identifying the body of water and nearby locations where you are fishing
• Data sent: GPS location coordinates
• Privacy Policy: policies.google.com/privacy

5.5 RevenueCat

• Purpose: In-app purchase and subscription management
• Data sent: Purchase transaction identifiers
• Privacy Policy: revenuecat.com/privacy

We are not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services. We encourage you to review their policies independently.

6. Data Security

We implement industry-standard measures to protect your information:

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS / TLS)
• Encrypted storage at rest on Supabase servers
• Secure authentication protocols
• Regular security reviews

No method of internet transmission is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

7. Children's Privacy (COPPA)

TackleIQ is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.

If we discover that we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13, we will promptly delete it and close the account.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided data to TackleIQ, contact us immediately at privacy@tackleiq.ai.

8. Data Retention

• Account data: Retained while your account is active
• Catch logs & photos: Retained as long as your account exists
• Photos sent to our AI provider: Used only to generate the requested analysis; see Anthropic's privacy policy for their retention practices
• Usage analytics: Aggregated and anonymized; retained up to 12 months

9. Your Rights & Data Deletion

9.1 Access & Portability

Request a copy of your data by emailing privacy@tackleiq.ai.

9.2 Right to Delete

To delete your account and all associated data:

1. Open TackleIQ and go to Settings → Account
2. Tap "Delete Account" and confirm
3. Alternatively, email privacy@tackleiq.ai with your request

All personal data will be permanently deleted within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

9.3 Opt-Out of Communications

Unsubscribe via the link in any email from us, or adjust notification settings in the app.

9.4 Regional Rights

EU residents have additional rights under the GDPR. California residents have rights under the CCPA. Contact us for region-specific requests.

10. International Data Transfer

Your data is stored on Supabase servers in the United States. By using TackleIQ, you consent to the transfer and processing of your data in the United States. If you have concerns about international transfers, please contact us.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the "Effective Date" above and, where required, posting a notice in the app or sending an email. Your continued use of TackleIQ after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
